Snow in August

On August 16 and 17th Colorado received a bit of snow. More East of Vail near Rocky Mtn National Park and on the continental divide. Some have said areas received up to 6 inches. In Vail we had a dusting of snow up on the Gore Range in the picture above.

Mount Evans, 14,240 feet , 4340 meters

Chris, Cindy and Sarah conquer Mount Evans on the road bikes

Well, we decided to ride the Mount Evans hill climb from Idaho springs at 8700 feet to 14,240 feet on Wednesday. A gain of 6,580 feet or 2000 meters. It was 27 miles up the whole way and then 27 miles down the whole way. Another "14teener" down for Sarah. There are 54 of them in Colorado and we hope to do them all someday. Sarah has done around 16 of them so far. 4 hours up and 1 hour down. Good job! It might have been more difficult to ride the bike up this one than hiking. We were tired afterwards.

July 16th Notch Mountain hike

Sarah and I did a good hike up Notch mountain. It was good to get out of town (although only a few miles) to camp out and do a hike. Great weather. Good pics overlooking Holy Cross mountain.

Flowers up on the mountain

Sarah had fun making a big fire of course.

Early July motorbiking

We haven't done much motor biking this year. Problems getting friends to go with. Everyone is busy. Still some snow up in the mountains

June 18th Vail Pass ride

Sarah and I went on a road ride from Vail to Copper Mountain yesterday. We went super fast so we are super tired today. We took a few pictures at the top of the pass of some remaining snow. Plenty of it at the upper peaks and in the woods. (pictures are from a camera phone, so not the best)
