Rebuilding the top end

Sludge rebuilt his top-end a couple of weeks ago. Then I rebuilt the top-end on the M7 Arctic Cat (with Tom's help), now it is time for the Ski-doo 800. Over 6000 miles on this sled. This will be the 2nd top-end for this sled. Figured it was easier and cheaper to rebuild them before they blow and actually do damage. Not too hard to do after someone shows you what is up. Prior to this we would wait until they blow and then pay someone to repair them. Doing it on our own....parts $210 for the M7 and $259 for the Ski-doo. Cheap maintenance to keep them going. Chris Appman and Sludge tore the Ski-doo apart while I was at work today. Took them perhaps 45 minutes. Probably took me 2 hours to rebuild it (drinking beer during the operation).

Double ring pistons, better than the crappy single rings that are stock.

Red and White Feb 24th

5-8 inches of super heavy snow today, we went up the back of Red and White looking for some soft snow, but no luck, it was heavy. Sarah couldn't join us but we had Tom Conville, Tom Schlader, Chard, Peaches and Simone. We all had a few stucks. Simone was in rare form, dissappearing a number of times. Always a pleasure having him with, seriously.

Feb 18 a short day

Sludge, Tsunamy and Ratz did a short day. Just breaking in Sludge's new top-end a little more and it is running great. Sarah was working on some jumps, 1 stuck for her.

Working on the sleds

Mid-winter Maintenance time...... Sludge replaced his top-end pistons on his sled and it ran GREAT! Now we plan to do the same on the M7 and the 2003 Doo Summit. But we'll have to order the parts first. In the meantime, we are replacing the hi-fax on the M7 and cleaning it up a bit.

February 4th Red and White, short day

Wow, we were tired after the big day on Tuesday up on the Flattops. We did a little riding up on Red and White. We DID find some good snow where no one had been (down in Moyers gulch). We even got stuck a few times. Tsunamy wasn't in as good as form today (she was a little pooped), but we all had a GREAT time. The most important thing was no broken bones and no broken sleds.

Snowmobiling Colorado Feb 3 Flattops

Our group
Up on the Flattops today with Benjamino, Tsunamy, Christophero, Sludgero and Toddo. Simone the Italian could not join us due to broken throttle cable. Peaches and Chard were hung over. They all missed a very good day. We had around 75-81 miles. Not too many stucks, but lots of carving and jumps throughout the day.
