Strange Winter, this one

I guess this is going to be remembered as the "lack-of-snow" year.
Well, as Chris and Simone keep telling me...
I chose the right Winter to get our Little-Bun-in-the-Oven!!! :)

Hike on N Trail by Vail (11/30/11).

Mount of the Holy Cross

So far. Chris went snowmobiling on 12/6th to Wolf Creek with Ryan.

Chris' sled buried in the pow-pow

On 12/13th we went Christmas tree hunting up the Minturn Mile area.
This year we didn't really need snow-shoes, but at least we did have some snow around us.
Chris found the perfect tree for our Christmas

All decorated, at home. :)

Then on 12/28th with the Moyers' and Tom on No Name Road, up by Camp Hale.

Mavy and Tom

Michael

Todd, Mariella & Steele

The group itching to go while I was taking one more picture

That was pretty strange... not leaving with them.
But I did a quick snow-shoe up, before Chris gave me a ride down. :)

Cindy sent me this picture from the Vail Bike Path on 01/02nd.
She went up hiking with her sneakers!

One more ride on 01/11th around Vagabond Ranch, by Granby.
Getting ready to ride

Back from the ride at Vagabond Ranch

Thankfully, we got some snow on 01/11th
and now they're forecasting some more this coming week - yeeeaaahhh!!! :)
All in all... we ARE still able to have good ol' fun!!! :o>
(So we shouldn't be complaining about it!)

Cindy's 40th birthday!!!

Yesterday we celebrated our friend Cindy's 40th birthday with a good hike and awesome dinner in a great company up at the Tennessee Pass Cookhouse - WOW!!!

The hike is about a mile, but it's also above 10,000 feet... which could be a little challenging, but not that much though... it's good though to pass good time with good friends, while moving our bodies enough to "tickle" a good appetite by the time we get up there. :)

This was our friend Cindy's great idea to celebrate her 40th birthday and it turned out to be a big hit with the great company we were in.
ThanXXX again for inviting us to have such a great dinner with all of you!!!
I think I can say it in the name of all of us that we all had GREAT TIME!!!

Cheers again Sweet C.C.!!!
To more great years together, more good hikes,
special bike rides & awesome adventures too!

Lots of love,
Sarah, Chris +1 :)

Sarah's b-day celebration @ Vagabond Ranch

Oh, yeah baby!!!
We did it country & western style this year!!!
At a Ranch with horses and hay-rides and good looking cow-boys, and...
Well... not really all of that, but anyway, it was really
great and relaxing - thanXXX Chris!!! :)

(Sarah, Alexandra & Chris)

(Chris, Simone & Alexandra)

And thanX to Simone and Alexandra too, who joined us for a day. Graaazieee!!!

We decided to check the Vagabond Ranch out to find a new place to go snowmobiling some day. It turned out that the place is awesome, but the snowmobiling...
well, the type of sledding WE love, wasn't there. Oh, well.

Chris and Simone went out to scout the area, while Alexandra and I were having good time chatting and taking a short walk in the neighborhood.
Simone getting hyped up to use my sled - oh, man! He-he! ;o)

Once they came back, Chris' words described enough what they saw:
"Sarah, I know you'd hate it!"
The guys are back

Hmmm.... I wondered...
Was he trying to make me feel better, since I can't sled with our little Bun in the Oven???
Nope. They both agreed that there's plenty of trail riding, but no good playing fields.
And, yes. Under these circumstances, I'd hate it for sure. :(
Hey! Looking at the bright side: #1) we know that our Sledneck Gang wouldn't have been happy, if it would have been dragged up here. #2) we found a place where to come back in a few years with our Little One, for some good trail riding! :)

Alexandra, Simone and Jack-the-dog start their hike back

Baby-in-the-oven ride #2
(yes, I went slowly! Well! There's no snow!!!)

When we left the Ranch, we received a text message from Simone saying that it was snowing a little in Vail, but not that much and that the roads were clean.
We were both surprised to see what we found and had to proceed slowly...

As well as we were dumb-folded by these two signs (above & below), based on the road conditions we found. Is this why there are so many crashes on snowy days on I-70?!?

After the long drive, Chris got a good work-out shoveling the snow in our backyard too!
Good job buddy!!! :)
