Little ice age coming due to sun spots not appearing

Oh, oh.... I just knew it !

While everybody worries about the car they drive and how many cans everyone recycles, it looks like it won't matter anyhow. Another little ice age is on its way. Too bad we are so self absorbed as a species to even think that the sun just might, JUST maybe, maybe even a titsy itsy bitsy little wee bit might have a uber tiny part to do with what might be going on.

Oh but never mind.......that's right, it is all Bush's fault.

Dinner chez Chef Pat

The Cassidy's invited us again over for dinner this week and...
since we LOVE BEING PAT'S GUINEA PIGS (!!!)...
we jumped right to the offer,
although we felt a little guilty since they've already fed us not long ago, BUT!
How can you decline a dinner offer, when Pat's cooking??? ;o)

Here are some pictures of the great umami (a.k.a.: the 5th taste) dinner
that Chef Pat prepared for us:
UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Luckily, you weren't there with us, because...
we cleaned up the plates from all the goodness!!! :)

Bruschetta: a little Italian appetizer to get ready :)

Then we passed on the salad with home-made Asian dressing: yum-mm-my!!!

My burger came to the table: can't wait to dig in!

Chris, trying to smile, while...
wanting to try the dish.

The lucky Meal Testers
Just like the Boy-scouts: always prepared for this types of invites!

Cindy saying CIAOOO to everybody!!!

And
our Chef Pat
Thank you for the wonderful dinner
and the crazzzy movies we watched too
(although I barely understood them, he-he!).

I'm more and more of the opinion that
you should purse your passion and
know that... we'll always be your Favorite Guinea Pigs!!! :)

Spruce, Brews & BBQ

Up in Beaver Creek they're doing "Blues, Brews & BBQ", today we decided to have a "Spruce, Brews & BBQ"... well... at least I started with the Spruce part for right now. Once our friends will help us with cutting it all down, we'll do for sure also the "Brews & BBQ" side.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

End of 1st part
Unfortunately, we had to do this after we talked to an arborist today and he said that even with injecting the tree with antiparasite+fertilizer... it wouldn't be growing back nice and full.
Therefore, to avoid loosing our other tree, we decided to cut this one and we'll start spraying the other one to clean it up from scale...

Hopefully we'll soon post the pictures of the party.
Ciaooo!!! :)

Oh! Almost forgot: what are the chances that you'd meet
2 CHRISes
with the SAME SHIRT
that got there in SEPARATE DODGE TRUCKS
in the Home Depot parking lot?

I really thought I was seeing ... "double".
Ha-ha-ha!!! :>

Kokopelli ride - day #3 (05/30/2011)

Today's program: climb, climb, climb & some more climbs!

Starting packing our Sag Wagon - the awesome Clifford!!!

Unpacking our camp at Hide Out campground

Mariella & Steele faithfully & patiently following us on this long day's ride.
Thank you again - tons & tons!!!
It wouldn't have been possible without either of you!!!

Coming down one of the climbs

Todd & the Clifford's Staff viewing the panorama

Todd getting closer to the La Sal mountains

Our Guardian Angel
Grazie milleeee!!!!!!!!!

Beating Clifford on one of the down-hills

Mariella and the La Sals

The Girls hitting another uphill after a snack

One of the many breath-taking views (both for the beauty and the climbs in high altitude)
that we were blessed seeing today.

Todd gaining on the La Sals

More beautiful panoramas

Ratz hitting another climb

Our big goal on today's ride:
La Sal mountains

The Girls are welcomed by some cows after their long paved down-hill and...
before their looong uphill on paved road up-up on the La Sals.

What do Pringles + Mother's Chocolate-chip-cookies + upbeat Country music have in common?
They helped Sarah catch (and also leave behind) the guys on the last uphill!
Yep!
You guys don't believe in Country Music, but... IT WORKS!!! :)
As well as also having the difficult & cool Porcupine Rim as an additional goal!

Finally hitting the dirt again, after sooo much uphill paved roads.

Still fresh and having fun!!! :)

Yeaaaahhhh!!!
A true miracle: the Ratzlaff's finally have a picture together!!!
Thank you Todd!!!!!!!!!

Todd taking a break while waiting for the "Wiped Out Chick" on the Porcupine

The "Wiped Out Chick"
Can't listen to my music while biking on a technical down-hill and both the Pringles and the cookies are waaay gooone, so... yep! I'm wiped out and can't wait to be done!!! :}

We started biking around 10.30 am and finished past 8 pm, exhausted but super happy we've done it. Well, we couldn't really express our happiness due to the overwhelming tiredness. I'm not sure how everybody else felt, but... when they said we were stopping at Wendy's for some fast food... the only thing I wanted to do was SLEEPING. I didn't feel like eating at all!
BUT!
Although I don't dig fast-food at all, once I bited my greasy, fried chicken-breast sandwich with all the bacon and dressing...
HOLLY-MOOOLLLYYYY!!! I REALLY felt renewed, and ready to...
watch Kung Fu Panda in the car with Steele on the way back to Fruita!!! :)
(I think everybody loved their burgers too, since this time... nobody talked while eating!)

Total mileage of the 3 days: about 142 miles
Total riding time: 15+ hrs (depending who you're asking)
Total climbs: too many! And ranging from few 100+ feet to more then 3000 ft

Result: AN AWESOME ADVENTURE with GREAT FRIENDS!!!
If we haven't killed each other on this one, I think we're able to do more adventures together.

But me & the Koko... as I said at the end of the 3rd day:
BEEN THERE - DONE THAT!
It's another thing I can check off my bucket list!!! :)
ThanXXX again to everybody!!!

P.S.: shall we do the rim-to-rim-to-rim in the Grand Canyon next Fall?

Kokopelli ride - day #2

Today we're going from the West Water Campground to Dewey Bridge
and on to the Hide Out camp up on Onion Creek Road.

Starting our ride on the very-very looong white road to Dewey Bridge area

Taking a break before keep going on the very "exciting" road

Cuddling together out of the sun?
NOPE!
Trying to stay out of the 35 mph wind with gusts of 60+ mph.
There's just one word to describe today's day:
miserably boring & tough windy day.

Almost there... kinda of.
Just another of the many climbs by the Colorado river.
On another climb, Cindy & I were biking up the paved road, while Chris...
he just got off the bike and started his hike-a-bike style due to the strong wind and
he pretty much was walking at our same speed.
The wind was just stopping us - goush!

Finally at Dewey Bridge for a snack stop.
Kudos to Todd: he continued on the dirt road to our Hide Out camp.

Cindy & I decided to get over there by Hwy128 + Onion Creek Road and Mariella joined us.
Chris... he "sacrificed" himself & didn't bike.
Well...

The truth is: he was over-the-top-sick-of-the-wind
and wanted to have some fun with Steele!!!
So he got Mariella off the car and took over our Sag Wagon Clifford and the kiddo.

The Two Kids (Steele & Ratz) set up the kite to welcome us Girls
at the Onion Creek trail head parking lot.

Mom & son playing with the kite

Look at our Thoughy Mascot: we're still wondering how
he wasn't being blown away by the wind. Good job Big Boy!!!

The Girls are getting ready to hit the last 10 miles...
well... more or less... it ended up being 13+ miles of mostly uphills.
But with beautiful views and welcoming streams that cooled us down. Yesss!

Steele scouting the terrain for us.
