Sunday, 3/20/11: Minturn Mile Adventure Team

The Munching Monkeys:
Maverick & Michael!!!

The Moyers' kids tried out their skills on the Minturn Mile today.
It was pretty tough, especially for little Maverick, who entertained us with a bunch of helicopter and snake-type of moves
to get himself out of being stuck in deep and heavy snow.
We still wonder how he did it!
Awesome job Mavy!!! :)

Michael, on the other hand,
enjoyed hopping up & down the many oopsy-doopsy bumps on the way to...
the NACHOS & CHERRY-COKE
down in Minturn!!!

Time for the adventure to start!!!

The Telly Trio:
Maverick (7 yrs), Michael (9 yrs) & Chris (tooo many!!) ;o)

I wasn't in the pic, because was taking it in my... alpine gear.

Michael hiking up Ptarmigan Ridge

Chris helping Maverick taking off his tellies.
It was really funny to see how quickly Mavy took off with Chris' poles
and started hiking up the ridge,
leaving "unhappy" Ratz to carry... 2 pairs of skis.
Ha-ha-ha!!!

Michael on the "hike for the promised nachos"

Proof the Wonder Duo made it up to Ptarmigan Ridge,
with Chris & Sarah

The Telly Trio and the Back Bowls of Vail

Michael getting ready for the ride down to Minturn

Yes!
I was there too & was able to finally be in a pic with the
Wonder Duo myself!!!

Chris & Mav' taking a break,
while Michael is starting scouting a way out of the trees.

Maverick checking out a hole.
He said it was bigger than his ski pole!!!
(It really was pretty darn deep and straight down too!)

Same with Michelino

The kids found the remains of an elk

Maverick checking out the elk's spine

Proof we all made it to Minturn

Maverick's first question was:
"Sarah! But...
Where are the nachos?!?"

We took them to the Saloon for a cherry-coke and some chips & salsa,
while waiting for Todd & Steele.
I meant to take a picture of all of us with
the nachos, and cheese burger, and fries, and quesadilla, but...
I guess the margaritas made me forget.

Well. We're gonna have to do the Mile again,
so that we can take the final pic at the Saloon too!!!
Thank you again for the FUN DAY(s) GUYS!!!

Satuday, 3/19/11: Another fun day in Colorado!!! :)

Full moon rising from behind the Lionshead Rock ridge

Our Earthquake Twins and the Moyers' kids with their parents,
joined us for a fun potluck dinner on Saturday evening.

Michael, Maverick & I built
this snow cave in the afternoon,
while little Steele was taking a nap.

Michael gives a last "touch",
while showing the cave to an interested Wagner.

Kids in the cave:
Wagner, Lilly, Michael & Maverick;
Steele was having a drink inside

Happy faces in the cave

The Schorr-Ratzlaff's playing with the sticks

Little Steele...
not so happy to have to go back inside the house.
(Well... he was walking out there in his socks!)

Kids' Team goofing around #2

After dinner we got ready for our full moon
snowshoe / butt-sledding adventure on Meadow Mountain.
The 2 sled-dogs (Michael & Maverick)

The Musher: Steele

He was having fun yelling "HIKE!" to his doggies.

Mamma Mariella & Ratz

The kids were going full throttle, up until...
the uphill.
Then they started complaining that their little brother was too heavy,
and Mariella & I had to replace them.

Finally...
SLEDDING!!!
Maverick starting the butt-sledding adventure.

Steele trying it out
with mom holding him from behind.

Well...
until she didn't wipe out and Steele
took a little slide on his own.

Chris giving it a try.
He was crowned the
"King of Wiping Out in Style".

He was sooo fast that, when he put a foot down
to slow himself down, he was catapulted (literally!!!)
off the trail and got some bruises and cuts
he proudly showed them off.

Michael trying a new sliding position.

Ehm... he didn't go too far.
You can see him in the top left side of this pic,
while his brother watches over him.

Tsunamy on the sled

Michael & Ratz taking a break for the camera

Maverick & Mariella starting their quest.

Mariella was crowned the
"Queen of Speed & Distance"
She flew down the slope sooo fast that
it took her a WHILE to hike back up to our base!

Steele & Chris waiting for Mariella's return

Mariella ready for another round,
this time with little Steele.

Sarah leading the crew to go back home.
What a fun day!!!
But next time... Chris & I decided to get a whole barrel
of RedBull before even trying to compete with...
The Moyers' Kids!!!
We were wiped out, while they were still playing before going to bed.
WOW!!! :)

Dale! We need your heeelppp!!! :)

Dale!

We're wondering if you still would like to help us with "fixing" our fence...
since we'd glaaadly accept your unselfish help!!! :)
[Ok-ok. We still have some grappa for you!]

Just... check out the below pics and you'll understand.
(Gulp!)

Saturday,
after a big "bang" sound during a fun dinner
with family & friends.
...still wondering if it was "due" to all the burping sounds
the kids were making at that time. ;o)
(Or, maybe, uncle Chris had too much... gas?!?)

Lilly & Wagner checking out the little wreckage...
(notice the size of the iced pieces & the damage on the fence)

And thaaan...
A "little" surprise waited for us
on Sunday evening,
after we got back from doing the Minturn Mile
with the Moyers' kids

Not that small anymore!!!
Wow!!!

Yes!
We're gonna need some help!!!
